THE
NO PROMISES NEWSLETTER
An Air Capital Disc Golf Club (ACDC) publication
January 15, 2001
WHAT!!
A NEWSLETTER?
What has been talked
about often, promised periodically and seldom seen? A disc golfer making back
to back aces? Bob making an ace? No, it's an ACDC newsletter of course.
Hopefully this year things
will change. Bob Decker has agreed to attempt a newsletter at least quarterly
but, he has made no promises to actually accomplish anything. Thus the name of
the 2001 newsletter.
If we get enough information
from club members to fill a newsletter and enough volunteers to help put it together,
we may actually get such an animal published periodically.
So bring on the news!
TIME TO RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP!
Have you ever heard of an "old timer" referring to how things were back in "aught
1". Well some day you'll be an "old timer" and 2001 will be your "aught 1". Don't
let the year pass without renewing your club membership.
A few changes will be made
this year besides an attempt at a club newsletter. We will try to publish a roster
of members and will continue the handicapping for the AM's. We may even try out
a few other ideas based upon interest shown by you.
Anyway, enclosed is a 2001
membership application. The dues have remained at $15. Please complete it and
get it along with your $15 payment to Buddy or Bob as soon as possible. Remember,
the more members we have, the better the club will be, so invite all of your friends,
enemies, etc.
RULE CHANGE
You will need to have your club dues paid by April 30, 2001 in order to win 50%
of the ACE FUND money. After that date, you will be treated as a nonmember for
ace fund purposes if haven't paid your dues before you made the ace.
There have been some "problems"
in the past when a regular member has hit an ace before paying dues. Therefore,
this is being done to clear things up and make it fair to everyone.
E-MAIL
If you have an E-mail address, make sure that you put it on your membership form.
We can then use E-mail instead of club nights, word-of-mouth or the post office
to get news to you more quickly and economically.
RUMORS - OAK PARK CHANGES
Apparently the rumors are true. Bill Paulson has got permission from the city
to cut out some of the woods at Oak Park so that we can change holes 1 through
5 some. Bill is currently working out the details.
You can help improve your
club by volunteering to assist in this improvement.
We will need some help
during the first couple of weekends in February to move things around. We don't
know the specific weekends yet, etc. so we will keep you posted.
KDGA TOUR
Plan on joining the KDGA tour this year. Wichita is the largest city in Kansas
but is often out numbered by those guys from Winfield. Let's get out there and
show those Walnut Valley boys that they can't kick us ACDCer's around.
We will post a KDGA tournament
schedule at Herman Hill as soon as it is available.
Come join the fun.
Ace fund at 1/8/2001
= $200
POSSIBLE PRIZE CHANGE
FOR AM’S
It has been
suggested that we switch to awarding “play money” or credits to AM’s instead of
Discs. These “credits” could then be used with the Club like real money to purchase
Discs, Bags, snacks, etc. The pay-out would be equal to the pay-out for the open
players. Hutchinson has had a good experience doing this with its laminated “Hutch
Bucks”.
We are interested in your
thoughts on this idea.
Unless the members don’t
like this idea, we will proceed with designing, printing off and laminating our
own “club money”. P.S. We need your name suggestions for our “club money”.
